Your Holidays in Skiathos
ABOUT SKIATHOS
Skiathos is the westernmost island in the Northern Sporades group with a coastline indented with inlets, capes and peninsulas. Skiathos island is about 12 kilometres (7 miles) long and 6 kilometres (4 miles) wide on average, it covers an area of almost 50 km2 and has a population of 6.000.

Despite its small size, Skiathos has over 60, mostly sandy, beaches scattered around the 44 km (27 miles) coastline. The presence of pine trees is prevalent throughout the island, and the small Pine forest of Koukounaries location where there is also a lagoon and a popular beach with gold sand, is a natura protected area.

The main paved road runs all along the southeastern stretch of the island with several narrow dirt roads branching off towards the interior and the northern coast. The northern part of the island although harder to reach, offers access many beaches of breathtaking beauty and hiking paths.

Skiathos Island can be reached daily either by boats from Agios Konstantinos, Volos, Thessaloniki, Mantoudi, Glifa and Simi. Skiathos International Airport (JSI) welcomes everyday visitors either with daily flights from Athens or international flights.
